Job Title: RN - Progressive Care Unit Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: Minimum 18 months in PCU License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with tracheostomies, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, and management of central lines. Essential nursing functions, teamwork, and communication skills are required. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit. The facility has 58 licensed beds with a combination of PCU and MedSurg patients. Common patient diagnoses include stroke, pneumonia, cellulitis, frailty, altered mental status, chest pain, atrial fibrillation, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Patient ratios are typically 1:5 to 1:6 for RNs and 1:8 to 1:12 for CNAs. Access to support staff includes receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomists, IV/VAT teams, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, and continuous telemetry monitoring. EMR utilized is Epic, with Alaris IV pumps and Phillips telemetry monitors. Floating to nearby facilities may occur as needed, with travel time compensated during mid-shifts. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend, and the possibility of low census call exists. Travelers are expected to work approximately 75% of holidays. RTO includes the option to request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays, which must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. The unit fosters a close-knit culture valuing teamwork and prioritizing patient experience. Scrub color is navy blue.
