Registered Nurse (RN) | Oncology Clinic

Position Overview Location: Avera Cancer Institute – Yankton. Work type: Regular. Shift: Day shift. Hours: Monday–Friday, days. Pay: $27.75–$41.25 hourly, dependent on experience. Student Loan Repayment Eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program: $167 per month up to $10,000 to help pay off loans faster. Responsibilities Perform general nursing care to patients. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Coordinate patient care activities for the clinic. Prepare equipment and assist provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing. Observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider. Oversee appointment scheduling and ensure preferences for patients in emergency situations. Maintain timely flow of patients. Greet patients and prepare them for physical examination. Screen patients for appropriate information including obtaining health history, taking vitals, and conducting a nursing assessment. Document obtained information in patient chart. Instruct patient in collection of samples and tests. Respond to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician. Educate patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness. Suggest solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints. Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensure cleanliness. Prepare list of medical supplies needed. Assure appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol when needed. Perform quality control and maintain records on all lab testing. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing license is required. Active license in the state of practice upon hire. Ability to work the specified hours and to perform each essential job function. Vision acuity adequate to perform duties and effective communication skills.
