About the Position

Job Title: Electrophysiology Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Electrophysiology Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 3x12 hours Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years minimum experience required License: NY License required Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association only) Must-Have: - Ability to communicate with physicians and other in-room staff to ensure all equipment and supplies are available - Assist in facilitating room turnover and ensure on-time starts for timely patient care - Coordinate with charge nurse and third-party vendors to ensure all team members are available for scheduled procedures - Proficiency in moderate sedation Description: Electrophysiology registered nurses perform diagnostic electrophysiology procedures and interventions in a clinical setting. Duties include preparing patients for procedures and ensuring all equipment is in working order. Monitoring read-outs or recordings during procedures is essential. Assistance with lab analysis and interpretation of data, passing on any issues to the physician or specialist, is required. Assisting physicians with pacing implementation and installing permanent devices related to heart and cardiac health may be part of the role. EP RNs assist at the sterile field by prepping the patient and equipment for studies and ablations as the circulator. The EP RN will maintain fluids for the ablation catheter and provide assistance with the ablator. Remaining patient-focused is crucial while assisting anesthesia and documenting during studies and ablations. Backup pacing during implants is also part of the responsibilities. Documenting in the procedure using an electronic system is required. Preferred experience includes cardiac implant or structural heart scrub but is not necessary. Familiarity with specific mapping systems and device implants is beneficial.
