Inventory Specialist

Responsibilities Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including front end and pharmacy. Support pharmacy inventory management activities (receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns). Champion On-Shelf Availability and ensure the accuracy of planograms. Review and coordinate the use of reports and system applications affecting front end and pharmacy on-hand balances and pricing. Execute and maintain front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques, and file claims for warehouse/vendor overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods including prescription drugs. In designated stores, open and close the store in the absence of store management, including required systems start-ups, cash handling and cashier responsibilities, and ensuring the floor and stock room are prepared for the business day. Customer Experience Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. In designated stores, as the leader on duty, resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience. Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Operations Execute and coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes, including creating, reviewing, and receiving orders. Scan deliveries while the vendor is in store, focus on One Box receiving, and take appropriate action to mark deliveries as received; contact vendors for past undelivered receipts and open tickets to correct inaccurate orders. Under the pharmacist-in-charge, verify all pharmacy shipments posted for products physically received; complete postings for pharmacy warehouse orders, prescriptions and OTC orders, other vendor orders, and perform tote audits; report shortages or damaged products. Complete On-Shelf Availability (OSA) end-to-end processes for planogrammed departments, including disposals, call-ins, and vendor returns before expiration; complete scan outs/returns for all subscribed departments and pharmacy scan outs. Under the pharmacist-in-charge, complete pharmacy inventory activities including recalls, vendor returns, non-controlled and damaged salvage returns; facilitate excess inventory returns or interstore transfers where applicable; verify posting of all pharmacy/prescription claims. Execute pricing activities, including price changes, markdowns, and pricing accuracy with signage; perform daily pricing tasks and related regulatory pricing responsibilities. Support front end and pharmacy ordering by placing expense item orders; monitor pharmacy manual orders to identify excess orders; maintain consigned inventory and orders as required. Ensure designated pull and quarantine item on-hands are updated and stored correctly. Maintain accurate inventory counts and the accuracy of on-hand quantities across departments and stockrooms. Maintain accuracy of inventory in pharmacy and perform pharmacy smart counts under the pharmacist-in-charge. Ensure inventory compliance with state/local laws for regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco). Assist in inventory record maintenance, including receiving and posting products in inventory systems; organize files and retain invoices/receipts/return authorizations for inventory activities. Prepare for physical inventory and support inventory day activities, including preparing the sales floor, stockroom, and pharmacy, and auditing third-party teams on inventory day. Maintain clean and well-merchandised counters and shelves; stay knowledgeable about store systems and equipment. Assist and coach team on package delivery activities, including scanning in/out packages, daily inventory functions, and package returns; support execution of Pickup Program. Serve as leader on duty in designated stores for POS-related responsibilities, including recording scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, voids, product returns, order voids, customer refunds, and cash handling as required. Comply with company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers. Complete additional activities and tasks as assigned. Training & Personal Development Attend company trainings for ongoing development and complete all e-learning modules including safety training requirements. Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the state. Communications Serve as a liaison between management and non-management team members by coaching and developing inventory system capabilities. When serving as leader on duty, communicate tasks to team members and report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management. Qualifications Six months of prior Walgreens experience (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail experience (external candidates). Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi-task and execute plans. Experience identifying operational issues and implementing resolution strategies. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate. Prior Walgreens experience preferred with an evaluation on file.
