Job Description
Job Title: Ophthalmic Assistant
Profession: Patient Care Technician

Shift: 8-hour days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
Hours per Shift: 8
Experience: Minimum of 2 years
License: Active Illinois License or confirmation that application process has been initiated
Certifications: BLS (AHA), Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (preferred)
Must-Have: Ability to complete OCT, Fundus photos, Pachymetry, A-Scan measurements, and Corneal topography

Description:
The Ophthalmic Assistant generates important preliminary information to be used by the ophthalmologist.
The COA reviews patient status and performs medical tests.
The COA assists with the documentation and education for patients seen by the ophthalmologist.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
Attention to detail is necessary for this role.
Proficiency with Microsoft software and solid computer skills are required.
Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
There will be a manager or supervisor available on each shift.
The work schedule will not allow for self-scheduling.
No holidays or weekends are required for this position.
There is no call or standby call requirement.
Scrubs will be the required dress code.
