Read more… For the 2025-2026 school year, we plan to employ approximately 48 staff members and serve approximately 350 students. In our first senior class in the spring of 2021, 100% of our graduates were admitted to over 200 universities, earning over 3.6 million dollars in merit scholarships. ABOUT YOU Responsibilities Ensure all students make significant academic progress and learn the academic skills, possess the intellectual habits, and demonstrate the character traits needed to succeed in college, lead in their communities, and change the world. Exemplify and demonstrate Excellence in a variety of areas, by: Developing long-term, unit, and daily lesson plans, based on the Chicago Collegiate standards, that are exciting, rigorous, and aligned to standards and differentiate instruction based on the diverse and individual needs of all students Developing and maintaining a classroom that exemplifies high academic and behavioral expectations and has a safe, loving, demanding culture Developing and administering a variety of assessments to measure student growth towards goals and tracking student mastery of content standards and exit requirements Exemplify and demonstrate Integrity in a variety of areas, by: Demonstrating profound personal responsibility and taking total ownership for both the growth and absolute achievement of all students Seeking feedback out to improve instructional and professional practices Analyzing assessment data, adjusting plans, targeting appropriate interventions and constantly pushing students to achieve at maximum levels Reflecting on practices to meet student goals and individual professional development growth goals Acting in a way that demonstrates high expectations and our belief that demographics are not destiny Modeling and teaching the values of Chicago Collegiate and upholding the Commitment to Excellence Exemplify and demonstrate Team and Family in a variety of areas, by: Establishing and maintaining relationships with students, families, and colleagues based on trust and respect Communicating regularly and effectively with students, families, and colleagues Collaborating with colleagues and actively participating in professional development, grade level, and department meetings Going above and beyond to ensure student success including coordinating and leading field lessons both in and out of state, assisting in student and staff recruitment, and being available by cell phone to take student homework questions every night Exemplify and demonstrate Perseverance in a variety of areas, by: Approaching practice with a strong sense of urgency to maximize instructional time Multi-tasking and meeting the professional obligations of a demanding workload Exemplify and demonstrate Courage in a variety of areas, by: Doing whatever it takes to ensure students are on track to succeeding in college, including home visits. Requirements Hold at least a Bachelor's degree and major/minor in a STEM field. (This role will be asked to teach two subjects within the STEM field - e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Tech, Calculus, Statistics, and Algebra.) Demonstrate success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally underserved students, particularly in urban schools. Havean unwavering belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic levels, regardless of demographics. Operate witha strong work ethic and a passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission -driven school culture. Ability to be solutions oriented and approach each day with a sense of possibility. Desire to become a better teacher by joining the Chicago Collegiate family. Develop daily, unit and long-term lesson plans and assessments and assist in the development of curriculum standards and mapping. Teach students in a high quality, engaging way, while also creating and fostering a culture of achievement and community. Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Continuously assess student progress, analyze data, and differentiateinstruction to meet individual student needs and maximize learning. Beprepared to do whatever it takes for students to excel on their journey to and through college, including communicating with studentsandfamilies regularly via school provided cell phone. Operate with a growth mindset and commit to ongoing professional and personal growth in a collaborative environment. Work well on a trailblazing team serving 5–12th graders in the far South Side of Chicago. Have a passion for innovatingyour instructional practice by using personalized learning and small group instruction. Hold the belief that teachers are the primary drivers of their classroom culture and are a direct contributor to our school’s culture. Nice-To-Haves Current and valid Illinois teacher certification. SALARY & BENEFITS Salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 per year and depends on years of relevant experience, history of achieving measurable results, and other qualifications such as certifications/advanced degrees. The full compensation package includes medical/dental/vision, PTO and vacation time, and other benefits.
