Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Communication Disorders or related field
• Valid Texas License in Speech-Language Pathology
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
• Ability to work with school and community population
• Ability to work independently

Primary Purpose:

Serve as the speech-language pathologist responsible for diagnosing speech and language disorders and implementing programs designed to increase a student's speech, language, and communication development.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct formal and informal evaluations and re-evaluations as well as all other professional activities consistent with timelines and requirements of the law, rules and regulations, and local district policies and procedures. Compile formal and informal information from a variety of sources into a written report to assist in the determination of eligibility, educational need and identification of programming needs utilizing the district's template.
2. Coordinate and/or participate as a member of the ARD committee. Ensure that all documents are completed, and meetings held within in legal timelines.
3. Translate appraisal data into research-based, appropriate, and relevant speech and language programs.
4. Develop measurable IEP objectives and annual goals.
5. Plan, prepare and provide research-based therapy interventions according to the student's current schedule of services.
6. Provide services in an inclusive setting, when appropriate, and coordinate intervention with general education staff.
7. Keep meaningful and accurate data for each session with every student on assigned caseload.
8. Provide consultation to campus RTI committee.
9. Function as a consultant in speech and language to parents and staff as required.
10. Participate in staffings of students served when requested.
11. Participate with district in-services, parent training, and public awareness presentations regarding communication with a variety of needs.
12. Maintain accurate and detailed records of evaluations, ARD meetings, and related activities.
13. Complete progress notes according to the district schedule for every student on assigned caseload by the designated due date utilizing relevant data and reporting objective information.
14. Monitor student audit folders, including filling all required paperwork, in a timely manner.
15. Supervise licensed assistants in speech-language pathology, Clinical Fellowship Year intern, students, and mentor fellow speech-language pathologists SLPs as assigned.
16. Follow billing and reimbursement procedures for Medicaid and other needed documentation such as time studies.
17. Complete required district caseload studies, logs, and Childhood Outcome Summaries by requested due dates.
18. Attend monthly campus speech-language pathologist meetings and all required training.
19. Use technology to organize information, schedule meetings and/or staffing's, develop and maintain ARD documentation and produce written materials.
20. Develop and maintain knowledge and skills by engaging in professional development activities.
21. Complete projects, duties and extra responsibilities as assigned by the Instructional Officer or campus administrator.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling and use of prescribed holding techniques, when necessary. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities and assist non-ambulatory students. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Daily driving in the district from one campus to another.
