Sr. Equipment Development TechnicianCorning Incorporated is seeking a Sr. Cable Process Development Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will develop, document, and implement new processes, products, and equipment — with a focus on optical cable manufacturing and automation. You will work closely with engineers and cross-functional project teams to design mechanical solutions, execute experiments, and deliver production-ready results that drive customer value.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with engineers to design, detail, and document mechanical parts and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor (3D CAD), ensuring compliance with documentation standardsSet up, test, and debug electromechanical systems; optimize performance and resolve technical issues through systematic troubleshootingDevelop and execute experimental plans, perform tests, organize data, and deliver clear test reports and technical documentationSpecify, procure, and coordinate mechanical equipment and components with internal and external suppliers and machine shopsApply structured problem-solving methods — including Kepner-Tregoe (KT), Designed Experimentation, and Six Sigma — to drive process and equipment improvementsDevelop draft procedures and documentation for processes and equipment; support training of personnel on newly deployed systemsCapture new ideas for potential patent submission and contribute to a culture of continuous innovationMaintain and promote a safe work environment at all timesExperiences/Education - Required:Associate's degree in a technical discipline with 5+ years of manufacturing or equipment development experience; OR 7+ years of relevant manufacturing experienceHands-on experience with process equipment such as extrusion, UV processing, or electromechanical systemsExperience using 3D CAD software for mechanical part and assembly detailing and documentationExperience with mechanical equipment design, procurement, installation, and debuggingAbility to coordinate with suppliers, machine shops, and internal and external stakeholdersProficiency in Microsoft Office toolsExperiences/Education - Desired:Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor including Autodesk Vault (VAULT)Experience testing and troubleshooting fiber optic cables or similar productsExperience designing and developing new equipment and processes for manufacturingExperience designing high precision components and toolingFamiliarity with pneumatic components/controls and PLC programmingExperience with data analysis tools (Excel, SPC, JMP, or Minitab)Experience in project planning, scheduling, and resource managementExperience with equipment and process documentation standardsExperience in manufacturing or field installation environmentsFluency in Spanish, German, or Polish is a plusThis position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $72,744.00 - $100,023.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.A job that shapes a life.
