We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team. Provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of settings; works under physician oversight as required by state regulation. The Division of Obesity and Nutritional Science, a world class institute with a history of cutting-edge research, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support and conduct clinical research studies focused on diet, nutrition, and disease prevention. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in working with study participants in a clinical research setting. Research participants are seen Monday through Friday in a clinical setting. Our collaborative, team-oriented environment provides strong support and encourages professional growth.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care to include obtaining patient history, performing patient assessment via observation, interview and examination; orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies; performs preventative health assessments, screenings, immunizations and care; provides direct treatment and management of acute and chronic disease conditions; develops and implements patient-centered plan of care in collaboration with physicians, patients, consultants, nurses, ancillary care providers and others as appropriate to the patient's condition.
• May bill for services covered by collaborative practice agreement.
• Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning disease management, complication prevention, disease prevention, and quality of life improvement measures, and outcome management activities.
• Monitors/ensures accuracy of patient medical records; maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
• Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with established clinic/hospital standards.
• Manages health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources; may perform diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification and state regulations.
• Champions the safety and quality of care for patients using ITB therapy and serves as an expert in the care and management of ITB pumps. Helps develop a detailed educational program for the patients and lead the quality and safety initiative for the program.
• Serves as clinical expert regarding rehabilitation nursing while demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill in complex clinical nursing situations.
• Provides management services for clinical research study projects; monitors participating subjects, including medication administration and family/patient education.
• Works in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Regularly participates in constant quality improvement and process improvement activities centered on the goal of providing exceptional, evidence-based patient care.
• Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
• Contributes to the advancement of the rehabilitation nursing profession as a whole through research, publications, and presentations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner

• Master of Science in Nursing with emphasis in the Nurse Practitioner program.
• Advanced Practical Nurse licensure (or ability to successfully obtain licensure within three months of date of hire).
• Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty.
• Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements).

Physician Assistant

• Graduate of PA program.
• Current PA licensure to practice in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, or ability to obtain within three months of date of hire.
• Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty.
• Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of clinical NP experience in an inpatient, outpatient, or procedural setting.
• Demonstrated experience providing patient education and counseling related to procedures, medications, lifestyle, or disease management.
• Prior experience in clinical research, including working with study protocols, informed consent, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IRB, GCP).
• Strong skills in clinical documentation and use of electronic medical records and research data capture systems (REDCap).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with participants from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols, with a high level of reliability and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple concurrent studies or participants.

Grade: S31

Salary Range: $93,300.00 - $167,800.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
