PRN Psychiatric & Family Nurse Practitioner

About the Role We are seeking a compassionate PRN Psychiatric & Family Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Advanced Recovery Systems, a physician‑led behavioral healthcare company dedicated to evidence‑based care for addiction and mental health conditions. Responsibilities Provide excellent medical and mental health care at ARS facilities, establishing rapport, gathering data, determining readiness for treatment, and applying criteria for diagnosis of substance use disorders. Screen for co‑occurring primary mental health issues and substance use disorders, including psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms. Assess medication knowledge, complications, detoxification protocols, and prescribe medications appropriately. Screen for danger to self or others using the Columbia Suicide Screening Rating Scale (CSSRS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire‑9 (PHQ‑9) and analyze data to determine treatment recommendations. Screen for nutrition deficiencies, make interventions or refer for nutrition consultation as needed. Screen for pain and apply individualized pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic pain management strategies, considering risks of dependency. Demonstrate proficiency with the electronic health record, ensuring timely, compliant documentation of psychiatric evaluations, physical examinations, medical progress notes, discharge summaries, medications, allergies, diagnosis updates, lab data, HIV and STD results, and ASAM criteria‑based treatment planning. Understand On‑Call responsibilities; maintain contact information, respond within one hour while on‑call, and be available when assigned. Collaborate with the Medical Director to develop cost‑effective therapeutic services, support high standards of patient care, review level‑of‑care changes, provide peer reviews, support NPs, PAs, and students, and comply with safety, infection control, and institutional guidelines. Clock into ADP on time if non‑exempt and perform other tasks as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nursing Master’s Program with a Family Nurse Practitioner or higher and a psychiatric nurse practice degree. Experience in addiction medicine or primary behavioral health preferred. Familiarity with JCAHO and other healthcare standards preferred. Familiarity with ASAM criteria preferred. Ability to apply continuous quality improvement philosophy and develop organizational strategies. Strong communication skills and self‑motivation. Licensed NP with DEA authorization to prescribe controlled medications; completed at least eight hours of educational training on opioid or other substance use disorder treatment. State‑specific protocol agreement and ADA compliance as required. Benefits Competitive pay starting at $100 per hour. Malpractice insurance and PLI coverage. 401(k) retirement plan.
