SOCIO-THERAPIST

The Socio-Therapist works collaboratively with the case planning team to ensure that foster children are adjusting and thriving in their placements. The Socio-Therapist implements the concept of positive discipline and behavior modification with children in the EFFC program, who have behavioral disorders and/or other mental health diagnosis. The Socio-Therapist works with the foster parent(s) (FP) to provide psychoeducation and training so that the FP can implement appropriate behavioral modification techniques in the home. The Socio-Therapist is expected to work collaboratively with the child’s school and service providers for a full and accurate picture of strengths, needs and progress made. Duties & Responsibilities Conduct face to face contacts with foster parents as required and reviews/discusses treatment plans/goals with the foster parents and children. Identify treatment plan goals in collaboration with the youth and foster parent, assess progress towards a child’s treatment plan goals and revise goals/develop new goals as needed. Provide advice and consultation to foster parents regarding specific problems and gives them strategies to help them meet the children’s needs. Provide direct intervention when needed to children and foster parents, as well as telephone contacts. Attend weekly treatment team meetings to review treatment plan goals and progress with the case planning team . Education & Experience BSW or BA degree required, in a related field preferred. with at least three (3) years of experience working with children and families. Experience in the field of child welfare preferred. A valid, non-restricted, NYS driver’s license is preferred.
