Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and the Director of Occupational Therapy, the Occupational Therapist provides independent and professional OT services through evaluation and treatment of functional and developmental skills. The role aims to achieve maximal physical and cognitive functioning in a patient’s daily life tasks as part of their total medical care and conducts education and training of patients, families, and related disciplines. Responsibilities Conduct pediatric occupational therapy evaluation in areas of mobility, postural control, upper extremity performance, splinting, sensory, perceptual‑motor, cognitive‑adaptive, feeding, and self‑care skills. Implement pediatric occupational therapy treatment plans covering mobility, postural control, upper extremity performance, splinting, sensory, perceptual‑motor, cognitive‑adaptive, feeding, and self‑care skills. Continuously review therapist‑patient relationships, procedures, and progress to ensure a high standard of treatment. Demonstrate flexibility to adjust schedule to accommodate hospital and departmental needs. Actively participate in clinical supervision for case management, including documentation review, co‑treatment, and collaborative problem‑solving. Provide and receive professional feedback. Train and supervise level I & II students, OT aide(s), and volunteers. Prepare and present inter‑ and intra‑departmental in‑services. Complete documentation in accordance with departmental and hospital policies for content and timeliness. Select and present relevant information professionally at meetings. Meet hospital/departmental productivity standards. Demonstrate a commitment to a safe work environment. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program. Current New York State Occupational Therapy License. Experience in pediatric or physical disability settings preferred; new graduates considered. Ability to lift, carry, and balance patients from light to heavy weight, and to visually and auditorily monitor patient status. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and computer proficiency. Access to transportation to/from school sites/outsourcing contracts.
