Janitor

Janitor (Bilingual – Spanish/English Speaker)

Location: Lombard, IL 60148 Schedule: One Part-Time Position Available ONLY Saturday AND Sunday 6:00 pm – 12:00 am Pay Rate: $18.00 / HR

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, offices, hallways, cafeterias, and other common areas.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including sinks, toilets, stalls, and fixtures.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize high-touch surfaces.
• Empty trash bins and recycling containers; replace liners as needed.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.

Maintenance & Inspections:

• Report repair or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.
• Assist with minor tasks such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, or touch-up painting.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure spaces are clean, orderly, and safe.

Groundskeeping & Setup:

• Keep entryways, walkways, and outdoor areas free of debris.
• Assist with clearing snow, leaves, or trash as needed.
• Help prepare rooms for events, activities, or meetings by arranging furniture and equipment.

Supply Management:

• Monitor and restock janitorial and restroom supplies.
• Maintain a clean and organized supply storage area.
• Communicate supply needs to the supervisor for ordering.

Safety & Security:

• Follow all safety procedures when handling cleaning products and equipment.
• Report any safety hazards or security concerns immediately.
• Support emergency drills or procedures as directed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (required).
• Prior custodial/janitorial experience preferred, especially in schools or large facilities.
• Knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Ability to safely operate custodial machinery (e.g., vacuum, floor buffer).
• Strong attention to detail, dependability, and teamwork.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods.
