Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist Profession: Speech and Language Pathologist Specialty: Medical Duration: 41 Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist Certifications: Relevant Certifications Required Must-Have: Experience in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities Description: The Department of Disability Aging is looking for a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist. This position serves individuals in various homes and foster care settings. The Speech and Language Pathologist will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. The focus will be on meeting the communication and mealtime/swallowing needs of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. No insurance billing is required. All services provided will be state-funded. Responsibilities include consultation-based communication and swallowing services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Direct services will be provided as needed. Intensive communication and swallowing services will be offered to children in custody served through the foster home program. An annual assessment will be completed for each resident. This includes evaluations related to swallowing, choking risks, and communication. Recommendations for action steps will be made for individualized support plans. Requests for videofluoroscopic swallow studies will be made and attendance at swallow studies will be required as indicated. Communication devices and environmental control units will be ordered as necessary. Monthly and quarterly monitoring will ensure fidelity of plans implemented by staff. Training will be initiated and facilitated for staff to ensure proper implementation of mealtime and communication interventions. Onboarding training will be provided for new staff and nurses. Assessment consultations for residents will be conducted as needed, along with treatment and discharge recommendations.
