Your everyday includes:

• Performing venipuncture and skin puncture in accordance with standard procedures.
• Using handheld devices for specimen collection.
• Monitoring collection list and documenting status of outstanding collections.
• Ensuring that STAT specimens are delivered to the lab within 15 minutes of collection or pick up.
• Ensuring that specimens are updated to receive status, that correct data is reflected in terms of collect date/time and receipt date/time and delivered to the appropriate lab section immediately upon receipt.
• Communicating complaints or problems to department supervisor.
• Collecting data for quality assurance program as outlined, maintaining thorough and neat documentation, and monitoring and clearing collection pending reports.
• Demonstrating knowledge of standard phlebotomy techniques and appropriate blood processing and handling procedures.
• Maintaining and advocating a safe environment for everyone.
• Monitoring and engaging with your patients, families, and appropriate care team members immediately concerning significant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns.
• Ensuring continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
• Contributing to the team by assisting others without being asked.

The must-haves minimum:

• High school diploma/GED OR 2 years of applicable experience OR phlebotomist certification.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Work shift: Variable hours (United States of America)
