Leasing Consultant

Job Title: Leasing Consultant We are seeking a leasing consultant responsible for coordinating all activities related to apartment rentals, move‑ins, move‑outs, and lease renewals. This role interacts directly with prospective and current residents to achieve maximum occupancy and ensure resident retention and client satisfaction. Responsibilities Focus on the needs of others by listening, understanding, and showing empathy and respect. Provide excellent customer service to prospective and current residents, promoting a quality living experience. Generate and handle traffic, qualify prospective residents, lease apartments, prepare lease documentation, and complete move‑in paperwork. Ensure model apartments are in touring condition. Orient prospective and current residents to the property, process renewal paperwork, and deliver documentation monthly. Maintain accurate records of traffic activity by entering information into the computer. Follow up with all prospective residents via phone, mail, or email. Convert phone traffic into scheduled appointments with prospective residents to tour the property. Inspect apartments prior to move‑ins, ensuring move‑in condition and coordinating move‑in/out needs with the maintenance team. Create and maintain confidential resident files; review move‑in paperwork with new residents. Complete weekly leasing reports accurately and timely. Ensure all open and close procedures are completed daily. Assist with ongoing resident relations, responding promptly to requests. Shop competitive properties. Inspect buildings and grounds for safety and cleanliness, alert maintenance to needed repairs. Assist with processing work order requests for residents, ensuring timely completion. Support management with clerical tasks such as answering phones, filing, and processing property invoices. Assist with planning and implementing resident activities to increase retention. Comply with all company policies, health and safety rules, and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Perform other duties as assigned. Education And Experience High school diploma required. Minimum one year of previous sales experience preferred. One year of previous residential leasing experience preferred. Skills And Requirements Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Prior experience in Yardi Voyager or an equivalent system preferred. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Strong communication skills at all levels of management. Ability to handle confidential matters. Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to relay technical concerns accurately and quickly. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Ability to use general office equipment. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to defuse situations involving angry or difficult people. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and current auto insurance required.
