Litigation Paralegal

Our law firm client is seeking a temp to perm legal assistant for their growing New Jersey office.

Responsibilities

• Assist Attorneys and Paralegals with day-to-day duties.
• Provide backup and overflow support for Paralegals.
• Prepare and electronically file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents in state and federal courts, including New Jersey eCourts and PACER systems.
• Track filings, confirmations, and court notifications.
• Review ECF notices.
• Assist attorneys with case management.
• Manage Attorneys' calendars.
• Maintain case calendars, including deadlines, hearings, and depositions.
• Organize and manage case files (electronic and physical).
• Proofread and format legal documents, including pleadings, motions, certifications, and correspondence.
• Ensure all documents are accurate, properly formatted, and filed in a timely manner.
• Prepare legal binders.
• Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
• Schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
• Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence (email, mail).
• Copy and mail documents.
• Answer phones.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in litigation.
• Demonstrated experience with New Jersey e-filing systems (NJ eCourts) and federal systems (PACER/ECF).
• Strong knowledge of New Jersey Court Rules and litigation procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Experience with document management systems.
