The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective, patient-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are priorities. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice is essential. Education supported by a Practice Governance framework is encouraged. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction are central to the RN's role. The RN applies educational and professional experiences to deliver quality care. Mentoring and precepting staff are also key responsibilities. Responsibilities include the following: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. Reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization and the patients. Evaluation: Monitors and documents the response to clinical interventions. Education: Provides and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor/preceptor. Encourages teamwork and identifies opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the Practice Governance model.
