Job Summary Join HCA Healthcare’s Food and Nutrition Services team as a Food Service Associate II at St. David’s Surgical Hospital. Responsibilities include preparing, cooking, assembling, and delivering meals to patients and facility guests while maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and assemble meals for patients and cafeteria service, following standardized recipes and portioning guidelines. Assemble patient trays accurately, use HACCP logs, and deliver trays to nursing and patient rooms on time. Maintain a clean kitchen, dishroom, and storage areas; perform dishwashing, sanitation, and cleaning tasks per department policy. Handle tube feedings, special meal tickets, and isolation tray deliveries in compliance with hospital procedures. Assist with pot‑room operations, porting, and housekeeping duties, including stock checks, cleaning, and waste disposal. Document temperature and sanitation logs, and take corrective action when problems are identified. Participate in training of new staff and support colleagues in a cooperative and safe work environment. Qualifications Knowledge of HACCP standards, safe food handling, and proper temperature ranges. Ability to read, interpret, and follow patient meal orders and special dietary requirements. Strong customer‑service orientation with a cooperative team‑player attitude. Proficiency in basic kitchen equipment operation and sanitation procedures. Prior experience in a retail or hospital food‑service setting is preferred. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred; formal training in food‑service production or culinary arts a plus. Experience in a hospital or similar setting is preferred. Licenses & Certificates Current ServSafe Food Handler Permit, Travis County Health Department Food Handler Card, or State Food Safety permit required within 7 days of hire.
