Location: Axis, AL 36505
Schedule: Monday - Thursday | 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (4 x 10-hour shifts)
Employment Type: Long-Term Contract with Potential for Direct Hire

Position Summary

Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter for a long-term opportunity with a leading manufacturing facility in Axis, Alabama. This position is responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing coatings, and applying industrial paints and protective finishes to metal components and equipment while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with industrial manufacturing, shipyard, fabrication, steel, or commercial coating experience who are looking for stable, long-term employment with the potential for permanent placement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting through cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and other preparation methods.
• Mix paints, coatings, thinners, and chemicals according to specifications.
• Apply industrial coatings using spray equipment, brushes, rollers, and other painting tools.
• Operate and maintain painting equipment and related tools.
• Apply paint, epoxy coatings, rust-preventive coatings, and specialty finishes to metal products and equipment.
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Inspect finished work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Safely handle and dispose of paints, chemicals, and waste materials.
• Follow all company safety procedures and environmental regulations.
• Assist with troubleshooting painting equipment and coating applications as needed.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications Required:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year of industrial painting experience.
• Experience using paint sprayers and industrial painting equipment.
• Ability to work safely around paints, coatings, solvents, and industrial chemicals.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures.
• Strong attendance and reliability record.
• Must be clean-shaven and able to wear a respirator.

Preferred:

• Experience with industrial coatings, epoxy coatings, or protective coatings.
• Manufacturing, fabrication, shipyard, or steel industry experience.
• Forklift or man-lift experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• AIDT or technical training.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in various positions throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to wear respiratory protection and other required PPE for extended periods.

This position works within an active manufacturing environment and may be exposed to:

• Dust, fumes, and airborne particles
• Industrial chemicals and coatings
• Moving mechanical equipment
• Loud noise levels
• Temperature fluctuations and outdoor conditions
