Supply Chain Planner 2

Busch Vacuum Solutions is a leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, compressors, and blowers for use in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, food processing, metallurgy, biomedical, and material handling.

We have an exciting internal opportunity for a Supply Chain Planner II at our Regional Distribution Center in Chesapeake, VA .

The Supply Chain Planner II plays a key role in ensuring materials and inventory are effectively planned to support customer demand and operational needs. This position is responsible for analyzing demand, inventory, supplier performance, and capacity requirements to make informed planning decisions and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

Working cross-functionally with suppliers, Operations, Sourcing, and other internal teams, the Supply Chain Planner II proactively identifies and resolves material shortages, changing demand, and other supply chain challenges. The role utilizes ERP planning tools and processes, including MRP, forecasting, Master Production Scheduling, and Capacity Requirements Planning, to support material availability, inventory optimization, and overall supply chain performance.

This is a full-time, onsite position (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM) with minimal travel.

Targeted Compensation: The targeted compensation range for this position is $70,000–$75,000 annually, depending on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and internal equity.

Job Responsibilities

• Analyzes, plans, releases, controls, reschedules, and cancels materials and components that support production orders based on requirements in ERP via MRP.
• Analyzes requirements for assigned suppliers, resources, and production lines and makes decisions regarding supply chain strategies that maximize material effectiveness while maintaining expected customer service levels and inventory targets.
• Maintains adequate stock levels to meet production and spare parts demands while keeping inventory at desired targets and minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
• Oversees and analyzes material requirements and makes procurement recommendations regarding purchase orders and/or supply strategies based on customer demand and trends.
• Contacts suppliers and/or work centers regarding material issues resulting from demand fluctuations, delayed receipts, quality issues, and other supply chain challenges.
• Selects the appropriate mode of transportation to meet requirements while keeping transportation costs to a minimum.
• Maintains master data within ERP, including lead times, lot sizes, planning strategies, reorder points, firm and trade-off zones, and other relevant planning parameters.
• Maintains records and documentation related to past activities, order specifications, supplier specifications, and performance histories.
• Implements engineering changes.
• Reviews planning documents including Planned Releases, Shortage Reports, Line Leader updates, Article Inspection Reports, Engineering Change Reports, Material Discrepancy Reports, and other planning reports for accuracy and data requirements.
• Creates, maintains, and uploads forecasts within ERP.
• Executes the Master Production Schedule based on monthly changes in sales and capacity constraints.
• Maintains Work Centers, Routings, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and other relevant master data within ERP.
• Coordinates with Accounting and Sourcing Buyers to resolve quantity discrepancies.
• Leads task forces or group efforts related to purchasing, planning, and analysis.
• Liaises with customers, suppliers, and operations.
• Works cross-functionally to resolve defective or unacceptable goods and develop appropriate plans for the future.
• Participates in and, as directed, leads lean process improvement and problem-solving activities.
• Participates in meetings, conferences, seminars, training, and other technical programs to remain current in material/procurement management policies, procedures, and industry developments.
• Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field: Required
• MBA: Preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing work environment analyzing and recommending material replenishment, or equivalent years of formal education: Required
• Thorough understanding and practical application of statistical methods: Strongly Preferred

Computer Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Required
• Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning): Required
• Experience with SAP: Strongly Preferred

Certifications:

• APICS: Strongly Preferred
• Project Management Professional (PMP): Preferred
• Supply Management (CPSM) certification or Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM): Preferred
• Lean Six Sigma White Belt: Preferred

Job Requirements

• Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Ability and willingness to travel (up to 5%) domestically to include overnights for training purposes
• Valid Driver’s License must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards
• Employment with Busch Vacuum Solutions requires current work authorization in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
• Occasional reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, grasping, and manual manipulation.

• Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods.
• Must be able to hear and respond to alarms, forklifts, and other workplace notifications.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, safety footwear, hearing protection, and hand protection as required.

Work Environment

Primarily a climate-controlled office environment within a distribution center, with occasional time spent in warehouse or shop floor areas. Exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, and moving mechanical parts may occur when supporting operations.
