Position: Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our team. This position involves working three 12-hour night shifts from 1800 to 0630, including every other weekend and a rotating holiday schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform routine therapies to aid in the treatment, diagnosis, and evaluation of patients' cardiopulmonary status.
Conduct emergency rounds, oxygen saturation checks, and titrate oxygen per established protocols during therapy rounds.
Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and wean patients from invasive and non-invasive ventilation. Provide recommendations based on clinical and technical assessments.
Execute therapies with adherence to universal precautions and proper body mechanics, utilizing sound judgment in evaluating situations and taking necessary actions.
Conduct ongoing evaluations of treatment regimens, including medication delivery and oxygen administration, and perform patient assessments to determine necessary therapy adjustments.
Assess patients clinically before and after medication or procedure administration, recommending appropriate therapy modifications as needed.
Monitor, assess, and educate patients and their families about therapies, medications, goals of treatment, and relevant equipment during care.
Demonstrate competence in the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation devices, and other respiratory equipment.
Maintain high standards of equipment cleanliness and readiness, managing departmental supplies efficiently.
Respond to emergency situations within the hospital, assisting with resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, airway management, and ventilator support as per guidelines.
Transport critically ill patients requiring mechanical ventilation or non-invasive devices to intrahospital procedures and testing.
Provide age-appropriate care, considering the physical, psycho-social, and cultural needs of diverse patient populations.
Engage in community education events focused on respiratory care procedures, disease processes, medications, and treatments.
Participate in self-development activities, in-services, and continuing education to enhance the delivery of respiratory care services.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program (education verification required).
Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by The National Board for Respiratory Care.
AHA Provider Level BLS certification.
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
