Postoperative evaluation of the patient’s response and outcomes is required. Evaluation of the effectiveness and appropriateness of nursing care is necessary, with documentation of care provided. Assistance in the setup and performance of cases is expected. This includes assembling equipment and supplies according to sterile techniques. Opening sterile packs, instruments, and supplies correctly is part of the role. Preparation of each patient for surgery is crucial. This entails positioning the patient appropriately. The operative site must be prepared in accordance with the procedure and site confirmation. Assisting in moving the patient to and from the operating table is required. Surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments must be performed. Documentation of nursing care on legal records is necessary. Assistance in the clean-up of the operating room following surgery is expected. Proper disposal of used supplies and sharps is essential.
