Accountant II

Axos Bank – Accountant II Target Range: $60,000 – $80,000 per year. Actual starting pay may vary depending on location, experience, skills, specialty, and education. Eligible for an annual discretionary cash bonus target: 10% and an annual discretionary restricted stock units bonus target: 10%. These bonuses may be awarded semi‑annually based on performance goals and targets achieved. Responsibilities Perform month‑end, quarterly and year‑end close processes. Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation, including accounting for prepaid expenses, pass‑through transactions (e.g., property and sales taxes) and lessee accounting transactions such as Right-of-Use lease assets and operating lease liabilities. Perform monthly bank reconciliations across numerous banks. Prepare and process customer payments received via ACH and wire payments daily. Analyze accounting records for discrepancies, research unusual items and implement corrections to preserve data integrity. Prepare account reconciliations and upload reconciliations to FloQast timely. Prepare the weekly (and eventually daily) reconciliation of loan & finance lease net investment as well as operating lease net investment. Ensure accuracy, validity, and completeness of all documentation needed to meet regulatory requirements. Assist with the transition of Fixed Assets accounting to a shared service team. Support audits, quarterly and year‑end financial processes. Update process and procedure documentation to keep them current. Collaborate with the corporate accounting team to resolve outstanding issues as they arise. Complete all required regulatory training in a timely manner. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred. 2+ years of accounting experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong written and verbal communication and active listening skills. Ability to multitask and meet communication deadlines. Adherence to policies and procedures.
