Position Summary
The Senior Project Controls Coordinator provides professional scheduling, planning, and project controls support for construction, renovation, and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong project scheduling expertise, analytical and communication skills, and the ability to support complex projects within a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Planning
- Develop, maintain, and manage baseline (master) project schedules across all applicable disciplines (civil/structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, etc.).
- Create detailed, resource-loaded, and time-phased schedules covering design, procurement, permitting, construction, commissioning, and close-out activities.
- Establish task dependencies, critical paths, milestones, deliverables, constraints, and project-level gates/checkpoints.
- Integrate schedule with cost, estimating, procurement, resource planning, and overall project controls functions.
Monitoring, Reporting & Project Controls
- Track actual progress against the baseline schedules and perform routine schedule updates.
- Identify schedule variances, delays, and risks; forecast impacts to milestones and project completion dates.
- Prepare and distribute schedule updates, milestone reports, dashboard, Gantt charges, and other project controls documentation.
- Lead schedule review meetings and provide briefings to project leadership and stakeholders.
- Support change-order reviews and schedule impact analysis.
Contract & Coordination Support
- Provide schedule input for pre-award planning, procurement strategies, bid evaluations, and contract reviews.
- Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders to validate progress and support project execution.
- Review contractor-proposed schedules, sequencing, durations, and resource allocations for feasibility and alignment with project objectives.
Risk Assessment & Mitigation Planning
- Maintain schedule risk registers identifying constraints, dependencies, conflicts, and potential delays.
- Recommend corrective actions and recovery plans to address schedule slippages, resource constraints, and sequencing conflicts.
- Collaborate with project management, procurement, estimating, and field teams to develop mitigation strategies and maintain schedule performance.
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Maintain working knowledge of scheduling methodologies, industry best practices, and project controls tools.
- Recommend improvements to Fusion schedule processes, reporting tools, and project controls procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance integrated project planning, coordination, and execution practices.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or related field).
- Minimum of 8–12 years of experience in construction scheduling, project planning, or project controls, preferably supporting federal, defense, or mission-critical construction projects preferred.
- Experience supporting vertical and horizontal construction, renovation, maintenance, or modernization projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Experience supporting multi-disciplinary construction teams in active construction or secure operational environments preferred.
- Relevant project controls, scheduling, or project management certifications such as PMP, PSP, CCM, PMI-SP, Primavera P6 certification, are preferred not required. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of certifications.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent, plus Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, trade coordination, permitting, procurement lead times, subcontractor integration, and project controls principles.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain resource-loaded schedules, analyze critical path activities, and integrate schedule logic with cost, procurement, and risk considerations.
Soft Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present schedule information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships with customers, subcontractors, project teams, and leadership at all organizational levels in a client-facing environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing project demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgement, and integrity when handling sensitive or mission-critical information.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Mixed office and active construction-site environment; this position is 100% onsite.
- Ability to conduct walk-downs, attend onsite meetings, and navigate active construction environments safely.
- Must complete all required construction site, customer, and safety training.
- Required use of PPE, including hard hats, safety vests, protective footwear, and eye/ear protection, during site visits.
- Work may require extended hours, nights or weekends based on project schedules, outages, or mission requirements.
