Human Resources Manager

Job Summary The Human Resources Manager sets the tone for Sonesta's Culture of Caring, focusing on building and motivating teams, creating amazing moments for guests and team members, and driving results through daily HR activities. Responsibilities include recruitment, total compensation, training and development, employee relations, labor relations, leave management, reward and recognition, health and safety, and performance management. Responsibilities Identify, recruit, and make recommendations for hiring all non-exempt candidates; assist the Human Resources Director with exempt hiring, screen interviews, coordinate background checks, and process applicable paperwork. Work with department heads to anticipate and plan for upcoming staffing needs and related budgets. Document outreach efforts and effectively recruit to attract a diverse candidate pool to meet affirmative action goals. Plan, direct, and coordinate HRIS activities to maximize usage, maintain data integrity, and process data electronically and in paper form. Ensure employee files contain mandatory employment paperwork, performance documentation, and mandatory security. Represent HR at the property Safety Committee, promoting safety awareness and reducing accidents. Assist in managing associate leave claims (FMLA, Personal, Workers' Compensation, etc.) to ensure appropriate care and cost tracking. Provide documentation for unemployment claims, participate in hearings, and ensure thorough legal representation. Support and administer employee relations programs, investigate workplace issues, and promote the Employee Resolution process. Assist in planning employee events, updating bulletin boards, and creating an annual employee engagement calendar. Oversee onboarding of non‑exempt employees and provide HR orientation for successful performance. Strategy and Planning Ensure hiring standards, laws, and regulations are followed. Ensure compliance with employee file procedures. Communicate property rules via handbook and code of conduct. Ensure safety and security policies are regularly communicated. Ensure all annual compliance trainings are completed. Work with Corporate Training Partner to schedule and execute required training. Financial Management Help control labor costs and expenses. Support Payroll staff for timely bi‑weekly payroll. Help manage staffing levels to meet operational and financial goals. Managing Your Team Facilitate training and development programs. Monitor, measure, and recognize performance of direct and indirect reports. Support company initiatives, policies, and guidelines. Handle employee issues promptly and professionally. Leading With Passion Ensure success through employee, guest, and owner perspectives. Collaborate across departments and corporate office. Inspire high performance and trust. Focus on mission and well‑being of the department, hotel, and company. Lead by example and operate with integrity and respect. Pay Range $80,000‑$92,000 (Base pay varies based on experience and qualifications).
