Senior Private Sector Specialist Organization: World Bank Division/Group: 2030 Water Resources Group (WRG) Location: Headquarters, Washington, DC, United States Grade: GG – 3 year appointment – International Recruitment Closing Date: 8/5/2026 11:59pm UTC Duties and Accountabilities Provide technical leadership on private sector development and private capital mobilization, including design of investment funds, PPPs, capital markets instruments, etc. Support Bank operations in enabling private capital mobilization as agreed with the Program Manager. Lead high‑quality global analytical products on private capital mobilization and private sector development. Coordinate engagements with key partners at senior‑most levels on private sector participation in the water sector – including public sector, private sector, multilateral development banks, bilateral agencies, and civil society. Innovate on private sector financing solutions across water sub‑sectors with IFC, MIGA, and other WB partners. Support engagement with private sector companies (e.g., agribusiness, technology, industrial/manufacturing, operators, financiers) as potential WRG/WBG partners at global, regional, and national levels. Support strategy development, business planning, financial management, and monitoring of the global WRG program. Lead coordination of the WRG global governance structure and development of the annual operational plan. Select Criteria Advanced degree (master’s or PhD) in water, economics, finance or related field and at least 8 years of relevant experience in mobilizing private capital and supporting private sector participation. Track record of driving innovations for private sector development and financing in the water sector across different instrument types. Demonstrated experience in developing high‑quality analytical products, supporting enabling environment improvements, and designing public‑private partnership models, fund structures, and capital markets instruments to crowd in the private sector. Strong analytical skills and expertise in the technical, financial, and economic aspects of the water sector. Experience leading partnerships with an established network of partners across public sector, private sector, and international organizations. Demonstrated ability to lead teams. Excellent writing and presentation skills, and ability to synthesize large amounts of material into concise briefing memos and Power‑Point presentations. Strong written and spoken English communication skills required; additional language skills an advantage. WBG Competencies Lead and Innovate – Develop innovative solutions.
