SUMMARY: Our Yard Hand is responsible for assisting in day-to-day operations within our retail shop/store and steel yard. Duties And Responsibilities Assist in loading and unloading material from machines. Assist operators and drivers in the retail shop/store and yard. Handle and transport materials and equipment within the facility. Use power tools and machinery when needed. Set out or put away tools when needed. Clean up store and yard free of debris, dirt, and hazardous material. Follow instructions from supervisors to perform tasks. Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions. Qualifications Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player. Ability for cross training in other areas of the shop. Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Physical Demands And Work Environment Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl. Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. Frequently required to talk or hear. Frequently work near moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to extreme heat or cold (non-weather). While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. The employee must be able to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
