Behavior Intervention Specialist I

Under the direction of the special education teacher, the behavior coach will provide assistance to children who are in a special education program. Qualifications include experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disabled/disordered students in a school, mental health, or hospital setting preferred, knowledge of child development concepts and practices, a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card, Crisis Prevention Intervention certification, and First Aid and CPR training certification. Duties and responsibilities include working intensively with students who have been unable to function effectively in the classroom, communicating reality-based problem solving techniques to students, assisting in developing and administering educational programs for behaviorally/emotionally and/or academically challenged students, and performing other duties as assigned. Reports to: Alternative school teacher(s) and/or Alternative School Coordinator Calendar: 10 Months; 40hrs/week CLASSIFIED HOURLY (Non-Exempt) Hiring Guidelines and Placement Schedule
