Pharmacy Manager

Pharmacy Manager – Clarinda, Iowa We are launching a new pharmacy location in Clarinda, Iowa, scheduled for Spring 2026. To support this venture, we will be hiring a Pharmacy Manager. Sign‑on bonus available up to $15,000 for this hire. Location Onsite in Clarinda, Iowa. Responsibilities Evaluate, prepare, and dispense medications; verify prescriptions according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements. Provide excellent customer service and clinical care; interact closely with patients to answer medication therapy questions and concerns. Review and evaluate patient care plans for therapeutic appropriateness; consult with prescribers and other medical staff to determine appropriate medical/prescription care plans. Assist in achieving business goals and metrics for the ambulatory pharmacy, including marketing events and promotions. Assist in fiscal management to optimize profits and control expenses; consult with relevant managers and directors. Manage pharmacy technician functions such as hiring, training, and performance management. Monitor staff performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies, practices, and approved dispensing processes. Recommend changes to improve operating procedures and facilitate patient care. Maintain and execute procedures concerning quality improvement, quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and record keeping. Handle adjudicated prescription claims to ensure appropriate reimbursement; follow up on inappropriate claims. Respond promptly to patient inquiries and escalated issues; ensure closure of outstanding patient concerns. Provide consultation on pharmacy and therapeutic matters to various organizational personnel. Review daily reporting and scheduling of pharmacy technicians; adjust schedules to maintain optimal patient care. Supervise patient profile updates and ensure insurance verification and regulatory compliance. Participate in departmental meetings and in‑service training for pharmacy technicians. Collaborate with organizational personnel on quality, service excellence, and clinical care initiatives. Operate the point‑of‑sale system; perform related duties as assigned. Education & Experience Bachelor of Science Degree or PharmD degree from an accredited pharmacy school; current, unrestricted pharmacist license through the appropriate state board of pharmacy. Broad training and/or experience in business administration, sales, marketing, information technology, and retail/ambulatory pharmacy. One to three years of directly related, progressively responsible retail/ambulatory care pharmacy experience. Skills & Knowledge Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to resolve patient issues creatively to improve customer satisfaction. Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, services, and drug interactions. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Good analytical skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of the 340b drug program is a plus.
