Operating Room Registered Nurse

The role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time applicants are accepted. The patient population includes infants to geriatrics. Candidates must possess BLS and ACLS certifications. The operating room is equipped with Davinci Robots and a hybrid room for vascular cases. The OR handles a busy ENT specialty along with general surgery procedures. Nurses will be involved in orthopedic trauma cases, eye surgeries, gynecological procedures, including gynecologic oncology. Experience with all procedures is not necessary. Open-heart surgery and organ transplants are not part of the responsibilities. The unit typically operates with 10 rooms and has an average daily census of 32. The department experiences a call requirement of approximately 7 days per month, including holidays and weekends. Nurses will rotate for weekend coverage. Call typically begins when the shift ends, with specific expectations for weekend calls. Travelers are expected to work major holidays as per assignment. Full compliance is required to ensure a timely start. Timely completion of onboarding items is essential. Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems. Functional skills such as infection control and the ability to respond to codes are also required. Interdisciplinary support teams are available, including IV teams, physical therapy, and rapid response teams. Successful candidates will engage with a diverse patient demographic, from adolescents to geriatrics. This role does not require any gender or racial preferences in hiring practices.
