Job TitleWelding TechnicianPrimary ResponsibilitiesLay out, position, align, and fit components using appropriate machines, tools, and equipmentBolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure proper alignment prior to final weldingSet up and weld components using approved welding equipment and proceduresInterpret blueprints, drawings, written instructions, and manufacturer specifications to determine hole locations, cuts, bends, and assembly requirementsApply working knowledge of geometry, arithmetic, structural design, heat effects, and material thickness allowancesSafely and correctly use hand tools and set up and operate applicable shop machineryPerform arc welding, oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in accordance with established standards and proceduresComplete and maintain required production and quality documentationPerform additional work-related duties as assignedComply with all NOV company policies, safety standards, and HSE proceduresEducation & Experience QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum of five (5) years of welding experience requiredMust possess and maintain a valid driver's licenseJob RequirementsMust successfully pass a drug test, background check, and physicalWilling and able to work in both field and shop environmentsAbility to read, interpret, and work from fabrication and engineering drawingsMust successfully pass a 6GR welding qualification testProficient in welding using E7018 SMAW (Stick) electrodesMust successfully complete a comprehensive fabrication skills assessment, including demonstration of 7018 Stick welding proficiencyStrong understanding of blueprint interpretation, welding specifications, and welding proceduresKnowledge of precision measuring instruments, including but not limited to calipers, inside and outside micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scalesAbility to use and read welding and layout measuring devices, including squares, levels, and tape measuresCapable of performing accurate layout work from blueprintsAbility to work overtime as requiredPhysically capable of climbing up to 120 feet while wearing and using approved fall-protection equipmentMust be able to stand, walk, reach, crouch, crawl or kneel for a minimum of 65% of the dayMust be able to constantly lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 50#Must be able to work around loud noises while using ear protectionCompetitive Benefits401(k) Retirement Plan – NOV matches every dollar up to 5% of base pay and overtime for every dollar you invest.Competitive medical plans that are effective your date of hire.
