Part Time CustodianSchedule: Nights; 3:45pm to 8:45pm (25-29 hours per week) Pay Range: $16.80 - 19.29 per hourThe purpose of this classification is to perform manual work associated with cleaning and maintaining county buildings and conducting various errands. Duties and responsibilities include vacuuming and shampooing carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, dusting furniture, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash containers, ordering and maintaining supplies, running errands, performing general repairs, or performing other tasks as assigned. Assignment to Maintenance Department reports to Custodian Supervisor.Essential functions of the position include:Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing carpet or floor surfaces located in hallways, stairs, offices, restrooms, public rooms, elevators, storage rooms, or other areas; performing spot cleaning as needed.Cleaning, dusting, and polishing furniture, equipment, artwork, fixtures, surfaces, walls, wood paneling, window sills, trim, baseboards, doors, cabinets, vents, and other surfaces; cleaning office equipment, audio/visual equipment, and telephones.Cleaning, deodorizing, and disinfecting bathrooms; cleaning mirrors; replenishing soap products and paper products.Cleaning and disinfecting water fountains, telephones, or other public facilities.Washing/cleaning glass doors, windows, and blinds.Cleaning kitchen/breakroom equipment, such as coffeepots, coffee machines, ice machine, microwave, refrigerator, and dishware; cleaning vending machines; replenishing soap products and paper products.Emptying and cleaning trash containers; replacing trash liners in containers; picking up and disposing of trash from floor/ground areas; carrying/transporting trash to dumpster or other designated trash receptacle.Operating/utilizing various equipment, tools, and supplies which may include a motor vehicle, vacuum cleaner, mop bucket, mop, broom, bucket, ladder, or cleaning supplies.Performing basic maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition; monitoring equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reporting faulty equipment.Monitoring inventory levels of equipment, cleaning materials, and supplies; initiating requests for new or replacement materials; stocking or distributing supply items.Assisting in maintaining security of buildings and premises; locking/unlocking various rooms; turning off lights, copiers, and other office equipment not in use.Following safety procedures, utilizing safety equipment, and monitoring work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.Preparing or completing various forms, reports, correspondence, or other documents.Receiving various forms, reports, correspondence, product information, procedures, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviewing, completing, processing, forwarding or retaining as appropriate.Assisting with clerical activities as needed, such as processing outgoing mail, packaging records for storage, destroying obsolete records, or other tasks.Communicating with supervisor, employees, other departments, county officials, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.Additional functions include providing assistance to other employees or departments as needed and performing other related duties as required.Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; 3 to 5 years commercial building cleaning desired.
