Position Overview

This is a 13-week contract position with a start date of December 7. The role requires flexibility to work both day and night shifts in a pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (CVCPICU).

Shift Details

• Night 3x12-Hour: 19:00 - 07:00
• Day 3x12-Hour: 07:00 - 19:00
• Maximum of 6 days of requested time off (RTO); must still complete 3 shifts per week.
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, including any combination of Friday/Saturday nights for night shifts and Saturday/Sunday for day shifts.
• Must be available to work holidays; no holiday RTO allowed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (CVCPICU) setting is required.
• Must possess a valid California nursing license or have an ETA for when the license will be issued.
• National Certifications Required: PALS, BLS.
• Must have formal cardiac training, including experience in heart transplant and the ability to float between units as needed.

Skills and Experience

• Experience with ventilators, multiple monitors, and EKG interpretation is essential.
• Proficient in managing high-acuity patients and providing post-operative cardiac care.
• Experience with treatment modalities including BiPAP/CPAP management, ECMO, and the administration of anti-seizure medications and IV vasopressors.
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and neonatal care is preferred.

Unit Details

• Daily Census: Approximately 30 patients.
• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, and Adolescents.
• High acuity unit treating post-operative cardiac surgical care, congenital heart diseases, and heart transplants.
• Travelers will not take on patients during the immediate post-operative period.
