Job Summary The Activity Coordinator will help plan, organize, implement, and supervise multifaceted activities and outings to keep the patients in good physical condition, teach new skills, and improve their sportsmanship and social skills. They will also motivate patients to work towards treatment goals. Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) from an accredited institution required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field preferred. (e.g. Psychology, Recreation, Physical Education, Sociology, etc.)A high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of relevant experience (e.g., working with vulnerable populations, intake coordination, or crisis management may be considered. Licensure/Certification: Valid drivers license and auto insurance. At least 21 years of age. Experience: One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Experience/Skills: - Direct care work in a residential or hospital setting, preferably in behavioral healthcare preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook email required. Key Responsibilities Practice conduct that displays respect for all KVC colleagues and community stakeholders regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, or veteran status. Responsible for achieving and maintaining proficiency in KVC’s program curriculum including but not limited to TST, PBIS, Resilience curriculum, SCM and Ukeru. Organizes and facilitates such activities as sports, dramatics, games, and arts and crafts to assist patients to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, and to develop confidence needed to participate in group activities. Creates and maintains daily schedules for individual units. Monitors patients’ needs and adjusts programming activities accordingly. Maintains inventory of programming supplies and equipment and submits requests as needed. Completes programming documentation relevant to each patient’s behaviors and interactions and any additional documentation, forms, or reports as directed. Obtains feedback from staff and patients about programming issues. Assumes responsibility, together with staff, for the safety, care and treatment within the program. Provides discipline to patients in an appropriate manner which is consistent with agency's policies and procedures. Model positive behavior and effective problem-solving techniques. Provides crisis intervention and initiates emergency response plan, when necessary. Attend staff meetings and directed. Attends in-service training and completes all required course work as prescribed. Completes critical incident and variance reports as instructed. Review patient case histories and become familiar with patient treatment plan goals. Adheres to all company policies and procedures and maintains current knowledge of Employee manual, Operations Manual, and organizational policies and procedures. Help plan and follow through with special events and community projects. Other duties may be assigned according to qualification of staff and development of program Additional duties may be assigned based on organizational needs and staff qualifications. Physical & Work Environment This role involves a mix of standing, walking, and occasional lifting, along with regular use of office equipment. You’ll work in a professional office setting with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
