Community Education Specialist (Bilingual- Spanish)

Job Summary

The Community Education Specialist (Bilingual - Spanish) will implement The Power Project’s human trafficking prevention and youth empowerment programs, including meeting the educational needs of diverse populations within a variety of settings.

\n

\n

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

\n

\n

Community Engagement

\n

·     Build new and manage existing community partnerships with local agencies, policy makers and key stakeholders and identify new training opportunities.

\n

·      Attend local human trafficking related events as needed.

\n

·      Represent organization and present at national conferences as needed.

\n

\n

Program Administration

\n

·      Schedule and facilitate human trafficking prevention and youth success trainings in both English and Spanish as neededfor youth ages k-21, administrators, staff, and parents in a variety of agencies, including but not limited to: schools, group homes, juvenile detention facilities, child protective services offices, and other community-based organizations that work with youth.

\n

·      Complete data collection and reporting accurately.

\n

·      Meet regional training goals.

\n

·      Assist with special projects as assigned.

\n

·      Attend weekly supervision meetings and scheduled organization meetings.

\n

·      Provide trauma-informed support to partners handling human trafficking cases within their agencies.

\n

·      Consistently participate in professional seminars, conferences and/or workshops to increase professional knowledge related to  human trafficking .

\n

\n

Other Duties

\n

·       All other duties as assigned.

\n

\n

Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

\n

·      Be at least 21 years of age.

\n

·      Must submit proof of valid Driver’s License.

\n

·      Must submit proof of valid car insurance, including effective dates insured.

\n

·      Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

\n

·      Be out of “the life” at least five years (if applicable).

\n

·      Not be in treatment for substance abuse and have a sobriety period of at least three years.

\n

·      Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work evening and weekend hours on.

\n

·      Must be willing to travel for remote training facilitation and/or conference speaking engagements.

\n

\n

Education And/or Experience

\n

·      Minimum Bachelor’s Level in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or related field or equivalent work experience (Preferred)

\n

·      Prior human trafficking prevention experience. (Preferred)

\n

·      Prior experience working in under-resourced communities and with minors. (Required)

\n

·      Presentation and public speaking skills. (Required)

\n

·      Sales or relationship building experience. (Preferred)

\n

 

\n

Performance Standards

\n

·      Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, is imperative.

\n

·      Must be able to multi-task, working on several projects simultaneously.

\n

·      Ability to work well with internal and external teams is essential.

\n

·      Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. 

\n

·      Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

\n

·      Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

\n

·      Ability to speak effectively before groups.

\n

·      Ability to problem solve.  

\n

·      Ability to apply concepts of basic math.

\n

·      In the performance of the duties of this job the employee is required to travel (50%-75% of the time), drive a motor vehicle, and communicate using telephone and e-mail.

·      This job requires travel to partner agencies to provide on-site training, as well as providing virtual online training as requested.

Salary Range

\n

$40,000 - $50,000/yr

\n

\n

Hybrid Remote Work

\n

This is a hybrid position that requires both on-site and remote work. MUST be based in Chicago Area.
