Incoming Quality Inspector

Location: Billerica, MA Salary: $80,000.00 USD Annually - $105,000.00 USD Annually Description:
Position Summary

Responsible for inspecting incoming materials, components, and parts to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, purchase requirements, and company quality standards prior to release to production.

Incoming Quality Inspector

• Perform dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Identify defects, dimensional discrepancies, surface imperfections, and other non-conformances that could impact product quality.
• Conduct testing and measurements to verify material and component conformity to established specifications.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation to support traceability, compliance, and supplier communication.
• Generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and collaborate with suppliers, engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve quality issues.
• Communicate inspection results, quality concerns, and corrective actions to key stakeholders across the organization.
• Support corrective and preventive action initiatives by analyzing inspection data and identifying recurring quality trends.
• Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability.
• Assist in preventing non-conforming materials from entering production by monitoring material flow and manufacturing processes.
• Provide guidance and training to production personnel on quality requirements, inspection procedures, and quality standards.
• Participate in supplier quality activities, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, and quality policies while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in quality inspection, quality control, manufacturing, or a similar technical environment.
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Proficient with precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection instruments.
• Familiarity with quality standards, inspection techniques, measurement methods, and ISO-based quality systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to identify defects and determine product conformity.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across production, engineering, purchasing, supplier, and quality teams.
• Capable of working independently, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining detailed records in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Quality certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) are a plus.
