Why This Role Matters Direct impact on patients experiencing acute mental health and behavioral crises Combination of inpatient psychiatric care and emergency psychiatric stabilization Cross-training across multiple units for skill expansion and variety Supportive, team-based environment with strong interdisciplinary collaboration Competitive night-shift pay with part-time flexibility Behavioral Health Unit (BHU): 23-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit 4A Unit: 12-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit Emergency Department Psychiatric Pods: o North Pod (6 beds) o West Pod (6 beds) Patient populations include adults, adolescents, and children in acute psychiatric crisis Conditions treated include depression, schizophrenia, mood disorders, and substance use disorders Key Responsibilities Provide safe, age-appropriate, evidence-based nursing care to psychiatric patients Perform ongoing mental status and safety assessments Administer medications and monitor patient responses Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health providers, and social services Serve as a clinical resource and advocate for patients and families Float and cross-train across inpatient and emergency psychiatric areas as needed Required Qualifications Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent RN Diploma with relevant experience accepted Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license American Heart Association CPR Certification Working knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory and practice Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills Preferred Experience Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Nursing Emergency Department or Crisis Stabilization Acute Care or Critical Care nursing Keywords for Search Visibility Registered Nurse, RN, Behavioral Health Nurse, Psychiatric Nurse, Mental Health RN, Emergency Psychiatric Nurse, ED RN, ER RN, Crisis Stabilization, Night Shift RN, Part-Time RN, Maryland RN Jobs Pay Range: $37.15 to $57.58 Based On Experience Benefits and Compensation Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting the first of the month after hire, plus wellness programs and mental health support 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, pension, and life and disability insurance Tuition reimbursement toward advanced degrees and specialty certifications Generous paid time off, fitness discounts, and free on-site parking About Northwest Hospital Northwest Hospital is a full-service community hospital in Baltimore County serving Randallstown, Pikesville, Owings Mills, and beyond.
