Substitute Bus Driver

School Bus Driver

Provide safe and efficient transportation for students on regular class schedules, as well as on trips for cocurricular activities and field trips.

Qualifications:

• Possess all valid licenses to drive a school bus.
• Such additional requirements as the Board may require.

Reports To:

Director of Transportation

Responsibilities:

• Obey all traffic laws.
• Operate bus in a safe and efficient manner, and observe all mandatory safety regulations.
• Maintain discipline when students are on the bus, and report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
• Keep assigned bus clean.
• Check bus before each operation for mechanical defects. Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Discharge students only at authorized stops, and pick-up only authorized students at authorized pick-up stops.
• Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
• Effectively implement emergency procedures when required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of inspection standards required by Federal and State Highway Patrol and Department of Education and Board of Education policies and procedures.
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Board of Education or the Superintendent of Schools.

Terms of Employment:

Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
