Health Care Technician I (S)

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a liaison between the Nutritional Services Department and the patients of Cherry Hospital. This position will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining patient food preferences in the Meal Tracker system, assisting the Clinical Dietitians with various tasks and conducting quality and accuracy audits on patient profiles and meal service.

Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Basic knowledge of dietetics, teaching strategies and positive behavior support people with severe cognitive deficits.
• Ability to follow clinical orders, work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and with an even-tempered demeanor with individuals, staff and others.
• Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques.
• Ability to communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and verbal form.

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

• The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
• The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
• DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
