Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the orthopedic tech performs specific duties that support patient care. These duties include cast application, DME application, maintaining DME inventory, technical procedures, and direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing comprehensive care to patients and contribute to the efficient operation of the clinic. Experience: Two (2) years of Orthopedic and/or Ambulatory experience required. Licensure: Orthopedic Technician Certification or Medical Assistant certification preferred. Special Skills: Must have a knowledge of anatomy and skill in cast application. Physical Demand: Requires good manual dexterity; ability to use power equipment; assist with lifting patients, stand or walk most of the workday, and use good body mechanics.
