What is the Opportunity? At Aecon Engineering Services Inc. (United), we are a team of engineers, builders, planners, and thinkers that design and build today's infrastructure, for tomorrow. In December 2024, United Engineers and Constructors was acquired by Aecon Group Inc. Aecon and United have a proven working relationship and the United team continues to operate in the market as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company. We are seeking an enthusiastic piping designer with experience supporting power generation and heavy industrial projects to be based in either our Mt. Laurel, NJ or Charlotte, NC offices. The successful applicant can look forward to projects including working on new build simple and combined cycle powerplants and developing plant modifications on projects throughout the United States and Canada.

What You'll Do Here: Under minimal supervision, design medium to complex mechanical / piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools. The successful candidate fully understands the process of design development, preparing drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures. The successful candidate shall be knowledgeable in the design of plant mechanical and piping systems, able to develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), equipment plan, piping orthographic and isometric drawings. The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of engineer's design development process. The mechanical / piping designer fully understands the purpose and use of vendor documents and reviews mechanical supplier documents for accuracy. Help coordinate mechanical / piping design activities work with other discipline groups.

What You Bring to the Team: Associate degree in piping design (technical field) or equivalent demonstrated experience. Minimum of 10 years of relevant design experience beyond associate degree in powerplant piping and support design. Proficiency with AutoDesk Plant3D, P&ID and AutoCAD. Proficient with Bentley MicroStation Citizenship Requirements: Due to the nature of work that United performs, candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States Pay and Benefits: Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
