About The Role We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer (m/w/d) to join our team in Hamburg. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for operating and expanding our self-developed Datawarehouse infrastructure. Your expertise will enable the automation of data extraction, loading, and reporting processes using Base SAS, supporting the company's digital transformation efforts. You will work closely with various business units, providing tool-supported conceptualization, development, and modeling of data solutions. Additionally, you will conduct analyses based on departmental requirements utilizing SAS EnterpriseGuide, offering valuable insights that influence strategic decisions. Your role will also involve guiding and advising departments on data-related projects, ensuring seamless integration and data quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a forward-thinking environment focused on innovative data solutions within the insurance and financial services industry. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or hold a comparable professional qualification such as an IT specialist certification. A proven track record in data warehousing and application development is essential. You should have solid knowledge of SAS programming, including data analysis and automation techniques. Experience in designing and modeling data structures is required, along with familiarity with SQL-based database systems such as DB2 or similar. Knowledge of Linux, TSO, JCL, and TWS is advantageous, although not mandatory. Proficiency in standard office software and operating systems is expected. We highly value candidates with a self-driven, structured, and results-oriented working style, complemented by strong communication skills and fluency in German. A proactive attitude towards learning new technologies and a digital mindset are crucial for success in this role. Responsibilities Operate and enhance the company’s proprietary Datawarehouse system to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability. Automate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes using Base SAS to improve efficiency and accuracy. Design, develop, and maintain data models and structures supporting business reporting and analytics. Collaborate with business units to understand their data needs and translate requirements into technical solutions. Utilize SAS EnterpriseGuide for conducting detailed data analyses and generating reports aligned with departmental goals. Participate in cross-functional projects, providing expertise on data architecture, quality, and compliance issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation and process optimization.
