Job Opportunity – Intermediate Care Registered Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Days, 3x12-hour shifts per week; 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period; 13-week assignment

Highlights:

• Intermediate care unit specializing in pulmonary, cardiac, and trauma patients requiring advanced airway management
• Patient population includes ventilator-dependent patients, tracheostomies, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, and cardiac drip management
• 22-bed unit with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio caring for adult to geriatric populations
• Epic EMR system with accelerated training available for experienced users
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, IV teams, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license or Compact license in hand at time of submission (required)
• Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Cardiac telemetry experience within the past year
• PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown work setting experience
• Ventilator management experience required
• Comprehensive respiratory proficiency including high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, BiPAP, and ventilator care
• Epic EMR experience preferred (6+ months in the past 12 months qualifies for accelerated training)
• Willingness to accept charge nurse responsibilities; previous charge experience preferred
• Clinical skills required: dysrhythmia management, central line and PICC line care, cardiac drip management and titration, heparin protocols, pre/post cardiac catheterization care, traumatic brain injury care, and isolation precautions
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31); COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered per CMS guidelines)
