About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with a strong background in solid wood furniture manufacturing and 5-axis machining to join a growing production team specializing in high-quality commercial furniture for the hospitality and restaurant industries.

This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who understands both design and manufacturing and can take furniture components from concept and 3D modeling through CNC programming, fixture development, and production. The successful candidate will help improve machining accuracy, production efficiency, and product quality across a vertically integrated manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

CNC Programming & Machining

• Develop efficient 3-axis and 5-axis CNC toolpaths for solid wood, plywood, MDF, and engineered materials.

• Create, test, and maintain production-ready CNC programs for complex furniture components.

• Optimize machining strategies to improve cycle times, accuracy, surface quality, and tool life while minimizing material tear-out.

• Validate programs through simulation, test runs, and production trials.

• Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and machining methods for various wood species and panel materials.

3D Modeling & Engineering

• Develop accurate 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, and other relevant CAD tools.

• Translate furniture designs, DXF files, and engineering drawings into manufacturable CNC geometry.

• Prepare shop drawings, exploded views, machining documentation, and production instructions.

• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure components meet functional, dimensional, and aesthetic requirements.

Jig, Fixture & Setup Design

• Design and develop reliable, repeatable jigs, fixtures, and vacuum-holding setups for complex furniture components.

• Support machining of curved, contoured, and organic furniture forms.

• Work with production teams to improve setup consistency, operator safety, and repeatability.

Manufacturing Support & Continuous Improvement

• Troubleshoot CNC machining issues and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime, defects, and material waste.

• Improve machining workflows, tooling strategies, and production processes.

• Maintain organized tooling libraries, CNC templates, and program documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, woodworking, and production personnel to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of CNC programming experience , preferably in solid wood furniture, seating, or custom furniture manufacturing.

• Strong hands-on experience with 5-axis CNC machining and 3-axis programming.

• Proficiency with CAM software such as Alphacam, Mastercam, and/or Fusion 360 .

• Experience with 3D modeling and CAD tools, including Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.

• Strong understanding of woodworking materials, grain direction, chip load, cutting tools, tolerances, and joinery.

• Experience designing jigs, fixtures, and vacuum-holding setups.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, DXF files, and 3D models.

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work closely with production teams in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience programming Bacci or similar 5-axis CNC woodworking machines.

• Background in chair, stool, seating, or other complex solid wood furniture manufacturing.

• Experience machining curved and organic furniture components.

• Experience in high-volume production facilities or custom furniture shops.

• Knowledge of CAM post-processor customization and optimization.

• Experience improving CNC cycle times, tooling performance, and production consistency.
