Field Service Technician

Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and routine service on vehicle barrier systems and security equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical/control system issues. Repair or replace defective components, including hydraulic systems, motors, wiring, and mechanical assemblies. Respond to and resolve service calls in a timely and professional manner. Use prints, drawings, manuals, and electrical schematics to complete maintenance and repairs. De‑energize, disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment as needed. Operate a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic/testing equipment. Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions. Accurately document service activity, parts usage, and recommendations in company systems (S&M / SAS program). Communicate effectively with customers on‑site, providing updates and maintaining a professional presence. Order and install replacement parts as needed. Ensure proper wiring methods based on environment (e.g., wet conditions, distance, interference). Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage and OSHA standards. Complete required training (e.g., OSHA, CPR, First Aid). Cross‑train and support other service or installation activities as needed. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance (automotive technicians encouraged). Experience with multi‑craft troubleshooting (mechanical + basic electrical). Working knowledge of hydraulic systems (strongly preferred). Basic computer skills and ability to learn service/reporting software. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Strong problem‑solving skills and hands‑on technical mindset. High level of integrity and accountability. Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor. Excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, environments, and weather conditions. Ability to pass state and federal background checks. Preferred Qualifications Experience with vehicle barrier systems or access control/security equipment. Basic networking knowledge (Ethernet, fiber vs. copper, media converters, switches). Previous field service or customer‑facing technician experience. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, and work in the field for extended periods (up to 10 hours/day). Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate active job sites. Occasional travel required.
