AI Research Engineer

Role Description

We’re looking for an exceptional AI Research Engineer to help advance the frontier of reliable AI agents in production. This is a deeply technical, hands-on role at the intersection of applied AI research and engineering. You’ll work on the core learning algorithms behind AI agent evaluation, optimization, robustness, and continual improvement — taking ideas from research and experimentation all the way into production-facing systems. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who understands AI agents deeply and wants significant ownership in an early-stage environment.

• Develop and improve AI methods and algorithms for reliable AI agents.
• Design approaches for agent simulation, evaluation, optimization, and continual learning.
• Build systems for systematically measuring and improving agent behavior.
• Move through the complete research/engineering loop: design → implement → experiment → evaluate → improve → repeat.
• Experiment across datasets, benchmarks, and real-world agent environments.
• Turn research ideas into working prototypes and production capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with AI, engineering, and product leadership.
• Contribute original ideas and challenge existing technical approaches.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on expertise with AI Agents / Agentic AI.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating, improving, or optimizing AI agent behavior.
• Strong Python, AI/ML, and LLM experience.
• Applied AI research or product-oriented research experience.
• Ability to turn research and experiments into working systems.
• Experience in an early-stage startup, small technical team, early AI/ML team, or first-ML-hire environment.
• Comfortable operating with significant technical ownership and autonomy.
