Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
Position Description:
- Promotes a recovery environment for staff and guests that reflects person-centered, culturally competent, and trauma-informed principles as well as the service values of CREOKS Behavioral Health Services.
- Perform a comprehensive mental health assessment, that includes evaluation of mental status, current and history of violence, suicidal or self-harm behavior, substance use, level of functioning, health behaviors, trauma, sexual behaviors, and social and developmental history
- Identify and analyze factors that affect mental health such as genetics, family, environment, trauma, psychodynamics, physiological processes, substance abuse, etc.
- Collect data from multiple sources using assessment techniques that are appropriate to the guest’s language, culture, and developmental stage, including, but not limited to, screening evaluations and other standardized instruments.
- Diagnose psychiatric and co-occurring disorders.
- Evaluate potential abuse, neglect, and risk of danger to self and others, such as suicide, homicide, and other self-injurious behaviors, and assist guests and families in securing the least restrictive environment for ensuring safety.
- Initiate and/or ensure appropriate responses to all medical emergencies in accordance with agency medical protocols and agency procedures.
- Maintain working knowledge of the standards for initial assessment, protective custody, emergency detention, care, and adjudication of persons considered in need of involuntary treatment as prescribed by Title 43-A, Oklahoma Mental Health Law.
- Communicate complaints and incidents to supervisory personnel in accordance with agency policies.
- Serve all guests without regard to their background or history, placing the guest’s needs above all other considerations.
- Model and practice recovery principles in all activities (e.g. hope, empowerment, mutuality, etc.) and fosters a recovery environment.
- Serve as a positive role model demonstrating professional and caring attitudes and behaviors toward co-workers, guests, and visitors.
- Courteously help in a concise, informative manner, keeping a positive tone and appropriate non-verbal communication.
- Exhibit a non-judgmental approach, effective listening, good eye contact and positive interactions.
- Ensure confidentiality of all guest information.
- Contribute to effective teamwork by combining skills and energies in a coordinated effort with supervisors, co-workers, guests, and outside agencies.
- Understand and utilize non-violent crisis intervention procedures towards the de-escalation of an agitated guest as needed. Participate in safety interventions as a last resort when de-escalation fails. Follow approved format.
- Inspire and motivate staff to maintain a customer-oriented focus for guests and stakeholders as well as create a culture of respect, helpfulness, and courtesy amongst staff.
- Ensure clinical records system in accordance with ODMHSAS, OHCA, and CREOKS policies and procedures.
- Read and knowledgeable of all current policies and procedures of the agency as well as Chapter 23, Chapter 15, Chapter 18, and other applicable state and federal regulations.
- Continually strive to learn about new practices that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the program in providing recovery-oriented, person-centered, and culturally competent services.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related degree.
- Possess a valid Oklahoma license or license eligible to practice psychotherapy.
- Ability to motivate staff and inspire them to maintain a customer-oriented focus with guests, stakeholders, and other staff members that reflects the values of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and co-occurring care.
- Demonstrated ability to delegate authority and supervise employees.
- Thorough understanding of the standards for initial assessment, protective custody, emergency detention, care, and adjudication of persons considered in need of involuntary treatment as prescribed by Title 43-A, Oklahoma Mental Health Law.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of crisis intervention as well as recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and co-occurring care.
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Conceptual awareness of how and where community mental health services interface with allied human services organizational activities.
- Demonstrate competence in CPR and all de-escalation techniques. Must be able to physically perform all these tasks.
- Ability to maintain flexible hours.
- Must have a valid OK driver’s license.
- Successful completion of agency-required training as well as the agency approved nonviolent crisis de-escalation training within 30 days from date of hire.

Occasional crawling; running; pushing up to 250 pounds; pulling up to 250 pounds; lifting up to 50 pounds.
