Senior Cost Accountant Location: Montgomery, TX Compensation: Competitive Salary + Comprehensive Benefits

About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing industrial manufacturing organization, is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join its finance team. This position will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations through cost analysis, inventory accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will partner closely with operations leadership to provide actionable financial insights that drive profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Support month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, labor variances, material usage, and production performance.
• Maintain and reconcile inventory balances while ensuring accurate inventory transactions.
• Support job costing processes and ensure accurate project and production costing.
• Partner with operations and leadership teams to provide financial analysis and decision support.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Review financial data, identify trends and variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support compliance with accounting policies and GAAP.
• Drive process improvements, reporting automation, and system enhancements.
• Participate in ERP implementation and optimization initiatives.
• Support intercompany accounting, audits, and other special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory accounting.
• Experience working in an ERP environment.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment.

Preferred Experience

• Manufacturing, fabrication, industrial services, or project-based accounting experience.
• Experience with job costing, standard costing, and inventory management.
• ERP implementation experience is a PLUS
