Phlebotomist

This is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent placement. Schedule: Mon–Fri – 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Projected duration: 3 months with potential for permanent placement. Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate. Update patient information and maintain specimen integrity. Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures (e.g., urine, fecal) clearly and courteously. Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand and comply with physician orders and laboratory requisition forms. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Verify test requisitions and computer labels for 100 % accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures. Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High school diploma or GED. #J-18808-Ljbffr
